SilberLicht ist zunächst eine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit der traditionellen fotografischen
Technologie. Amin El Dib arrangierte belichtetes Barytpapier zu Stillleben und fotografierte diese. Die
Risskanten und die Reflexe der kontrastreichen Beleuchtung offenbaren die pure Materialität des traditionellen
Fotopapiers. Dahinter liegt oft tiefstes Schwarz, was den Stillleben eine faszinierende Tiefe
gibt, die an den Blick von einem fremden Planeten in die Weite des Alls erinnert. Aber es geht natürlich
nicht allein um Technik. Die Motive auf den Fotopapierfragmenten sind mal mehr, mal weniger deutlich
zu erkennen. Zu sehen sind Hautoberflächen. Der Mensch ist fragmentiert, in Stücke zerrissen, sein Bild
wird neu arrangiert und in edler Ästhetik präsentiert: So kann ein Fotobuch aussehen, das in seiner
engen Verschränkung von Form und Inhalt das Zeug zum künftigen Klassiker hat.
To begin with, SilberLicht is an artistic examination of traditional photographic technology.
Amin El Dib arranged exposed Baryt paper into still-lifes and photographed them. Torn paper edges and
reflexes of the richly contrasting lighting reveal the pure materiality of the traditional photo paper. The
deepest black usually underlies this, which bestows on the still-lifes a fascinating depth, reminiscent of
the view from a foreign planet into the expanse of the universe. But it is certainly not just a matter of technique.
The motifs on the photo paper fragments are sometimes more, sometimes less easily deciphered.
Visible are skin surfaces. The human being is fragmented, torn into pieces, his image re-arranged and
presented through fine aesthetics: This is how a photo book with the potential to become a future classic
can look, thanks to a tight interlacing of form and content.
